Adaptive Learning in Science Courses
The quality, availability, and effectiveness of adaptive courseware varies depending on the subject matter of the
course. While there are common implementation challenges shared across disciplines, integrating adaptive
learning into the curriculum of an English course, for example, often requires a different approach than for a
Biology or History course. The final webinar in our Adaptive Learning series continues our exploration of the
experiences community college faculty from specific disciplines have had integrating adaptive courseware into
their classroom curricula. Last month, we heard from Math faculty. This month we hear from Science faculty from
ATD colleges participating in the Every Learner Everywhere (ELE) Initiative. During this webinar they will discuss
how they approached using adaptive learning tools in their Science courses and the effect adaptive tools have had
on the course outcomes of their Science students. ELE is a network of organizations, which includes Achieving the
Dream, with expertise in evaluating, implementing, scaling, and measuring the efficacy of education technologies,
curriculum and course design strategies, teaching practices, and support services that personalize instruction.
Since 2019, Achieving the Dream and its ELE network partners have been supporting faculty at seven community
colleges implement, use, and evaluate adaptive learning tools in the classroom. Please join us on Nov. 18 for this
final webinar in our series on Adaptive Learning. The event is free and open to the public.
